Wild Birds Unlimited and James Ponds to raise funds for clean drinking water
On Saturday, November 7th, we will donate 10% of the day's sales to the Columbia Aquascape Foundation Mission trip. Chris and Diane Baker, certified Aquascape contractors from James Ponds, will be at our shop from 10am until noon to discuss their trip to Barranquilla, Columbia to install a rainwater collection system at La Rosa de Saron (The Rose of Sharon) school. The Bakers, who installed the pond in the front of our shop, will also be available to answer questions about backyard waterscaping.
WHAT ARE THE FACTS ABOUT THE LACK OF DRINKING WATER?
One child dies every fifteen seconds from illness associated with a lack of clean drinking water, and a bad level of hygiene and basic sanitaion. Four children die each minute. 5760 children die a day. Over 2.1 million die every year due to water related diseases.
