GREAT SUCCESS!!!  RAISED $237 for the

Support of Aark & Wildlife Protection at

WILD BIRDS UNLIMITED on JULY 11

Wild Birds Unlimited of Buckingham's event to support the Aark was a great success.  We raised $237, thanks in large part to the fantastic presentation by Leah Stallings of the Aark staff.  Pictured at left with Grace, a Redtail Hawk with a broken wing, Leah shared the Aark's approach to animal care with an enthusiastic crowd.  Leah's feathered helpmates included a baby mockingbird, a baby screech owl as well as a nest of baby house finches.

The Aark is staffed by a cadre of professionals and dedicated trained volunteers who provide 24 hour service, 7 days a week, 365 days a year. Depending upon age and/or injury, an orphaned or wounded creature may required attention every couple of hours around the clock.

Assistance is also available by trained individuals for phone inquiries on a variety of questions relating to injured or orphan birds and mammals. It is not uncommon for Aark professionals to spend a great deal of time coaching an individual on capturing and safely transporting a wounded animal to the Center.

Tips for encounters with injured animals may be found at their website:  www.aark.org

Representatives from the Aark will be on hand at Wild Birds Unlimited in Buckingham on July 11 from 9:30 a.m. to 10:15 a.m. With the assistance of their rehabilitated feathered creatures, their presentation will focus on raising community awareness and respect for our wildlife heritage.  On this day, Wild Birds Unlimited will donate 10% of its bird food sales to the Aark Wildlife Rehabilitation and Education Center of Chalfont PA.

The Aark provides temporary sanctuary for thousands of injured and orphaned birds and mammals annually.  They are an important resource for community residents who are concerned about the wildlife in their own backyards.

"We frequently receive phone calls from customers who have questions about how to handle an orphaned or wounded animal", said Wild Birds Unlimited owner Michael O'Shea.  "When we can't help, we refer them to the Aark."
